The second wedding of my double header weekend was another beautiful one. Theo and Carolina are just perfect for each other and documenting their love was fun and easy. In the pre-wedding questionnaire I sent them they both described the other as being their home. And I could tell. They were both so at ease and relaxed in each other’s presence; they simply belong together.
Theo and Carolina’s day started off super chill. The boys had a good time playing indoor golf, followed by the getting ready pictures and a game of poker. The girls had a relaxed time getting ready in Carolina’s home. Honestly, these are my favorite types of wedding mornings. A slow, no-rush timeline sets the pace for the entire day.
The couple chose to do a private first look, which I fully respect but I’m not gonna lie: I was a little sad I couldn’t be there. 🙃 First looks are one of my all-time favorite parts of the day. But I always tell my couples to plan their day in a way that makes them happy. After all, you don’t have to do what everyone else is doing. This is your day and you get to choose what’s important to you.
I don’t think I’ve ever met a more mature and respectful 19-year old than Theo. But apparently he hadn’t always been that way. At their engagement session he told me he’d been a “bad boy” in the upper grades. Carolina is a couple years older than him and at the time he was in secundaria, she had been teaching a younger grade. Her classroom happened to be right beside the principal’s office so when he got in trouble, to his embarrassment, he had to pass by her room to go to the principal’s office. Apparently he had somewhat of a thing for her back then already! They both went to the same youth group and said they were “just friends.” Carolina always thought she didn’t want to get married. However, as they got to know each other better, they both realized they had feelings for each other. They met up secretly sometimes until people started noticing, and that’s when they officially started dating. Now less than two years later, here they are, married!
The wedding day was an all-around good one! Both moms came to me at the end of the reception thanking me for my work. Carolina’s mom told me I had seemed like family and I told her I’d felt the same way. Everyone was so hospitable and friendly. I can’t get over the fact that I get to work with the kindest people. There have been countless times when warm interactions with the mothers have fully made up for the exhaustion I felt at the end of the day. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, genuine connection with my clients is what motivates me and brings me the greatest sense of joy and fulfillment in my work.
