David and Enny said “I do” in a beautiful pecan orchard surrounded by their closest friends and family.
We did the first look and the bride and groom portraits the evening before the wedding day. Enny had dreamed of doing them out in an open landscape with mountains in the background, but there was no way the wind was going to let us do that. So we did all their pictures in the pecan orchard and I wasn’t even mad about it. They turned out beautiful!
The day of the wedding started off with a slow morning. Enny didn’t need to get ready until after lunch, so she invited me to have lunch with her and her parents. I felt honored. (Their hospitality was amazing and I’m so grateful for the way the Mennonite community as a whole practices it. Even though I didn’t know anyone in Buenavista, I still felt at home there, thanks to all the friendly and hospitable people.)
Anyway, back to the wedding, the afternoon was chill as well. We did the getting ready photos, followed by the family pictures in the pecan orchard. The ceremony started at 7:00 p.m. so we had a lot of time to relax till then. If you ask me, this is the ideal wedding day. No rushing around trying to get in as many pictures as possible. I always recommend simplifying where you can. After all, your wedding day isn’t a content shoot day. And so many of the trends you see on Instagram won’t actually be the pictures you’ll cherish in 10 years.
The reception details were beautiful as well. The string lights and candles made for such a cozy atmosphere, the perfect way to end the day.
